Surge is an annual collegiate retreat that serves as a catalyst for spiritual growth and a support to discipleship in the local church. At Surge, we accomplish this through the preaching of God’s word, worship, small group discussions, and connecting students to authentic community.

Andrew Marchbanks is the Executive Pastor at the First Southern Baptist Church of Glendale. Andrew has been a member of FSBCG since he was a young child, and in 2019, he graduated from Grand Canyon University, majoring in Business Administration with a minor in Biblical Studies. Andrew completed his Master of Divinity in 2023 and is currently working on his Doctor of Ministry from Gateway Baptist Theological Seminary. Andrew oversees the educational and administrative ministries in the church. He also supervises the Christian Challenge collegiate ministry staff at Glendale Community College, Arizona Christian University, and Grand Canyon University. Andrew married his wife, Caitlin, in March 2021, and they had their first child, Liliana, in April 2024.
